Biography
Daniel J. Myers was Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s provost from January 2019 to June 2020. During his tenure, Myers played an important role in the implementation of AU’s strategic plan, enhanced the university’s research profile and helped set a new record for external funding, hired the institution’s first chief online officer to expand digital education opportunities, and supported the move of the School of Education to a stand-alone entity, among other accomplishments. During the spring 2020 COVID-19 response, he helped our faculty transition more than 2,000 classes online and supported our students with academic and technological services to facilitate online learning.
Before joining AU, Myers was provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Marquette University and held an academic appointment as professor in the department of Social and Cultural Science. Prior to Marquette, Myers was vice president and associate provost for faculty affairs at the University of Notre Dame.
Myers earned a doctorate and master’s degree in sociology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and a master’s in higher education and student affairs and a bachelor’s in political science from Ohio State University. He has written five books and co-authored or authored more than 30 peer-reviewed articles.
