Dear AU Community,
We want to update you on the ongoing investigation of an incident that occurred yesterday in Kerwin Hall. After receiving reports of an individual behaving in an unusual manner, AUPD immediately checked the building, spoke to the community members who reported the situation, and began reviewing surveillance video.Â
Based on the information collected to date, there is no known indication of a threat to the AU community. We continue to investigate and are seeking to identify any persons of interest connected to this matter.
To continue supporting the safety and well-being of our community, AUPD has increased patrols on campus, including officers on foot, in vehicles, and in buildings. If at any point you feel unsafe, please call the AUPD emergency number at 202 885 3636, use the blue light emergency telephones on campus, or use the RAVE Guardian app on your phone. As always, please follow good safety practices. Be aware of your surroundings, keep residence hall rooms and office doors locked, and do not let anyone you do not know follow you into residence halls or office areas.
There is no change to campus activities, classes, or operations. Should any updates be needed, we will communicate with the AU community via email, social media, and AU Alert texts (if necessary).

Students can contact the 24-hour AU ProtoCall line at 202-885-7979 or the Center for Well-Being Programs and Psychological Services at 202-885-3500. Faculty and staff can contact the BHS Faculty and Staff Assistance Program at 800-327-2251 or on the .
