You are here: Â鶹´«Ã½ Finance Communications Kerwin Hall Investigation and Providing a Safe Campus for Exams and Commencement

Memorandum May 5, 2023

Dear AU Community,

With finals underway, we are supporting our community during this important time by focusing on our collective safety and continuing to share updates about the Kerwin Hall investigation to address your questions and concerns. We understand this has been an uncertain time, and we appreciate your commitment to our community. Our staff and faculty work hard every day to support our students and help them thrive during this busy and important stretch.

Campus is secure and exams, activities, and university operations are occurring without interruption. AUPD is continuing the heightened presence through the end of exams. There have been no further sightings or reports of the individual who was observed in Kerwin Hall last Thursday. We have continued to review and follow-up on all emails, voicemails, and tips received from the community. We appreciate your efforts to aid the investigation. There has been no subsequent information that indicates a threat or changes our assessment of the situation.

Once exams conclude next week, we will transition to our commencement security protocols. We implement comprehensive safety plans every year for commencement activities. We will continue our vigilance during these important celebrations and support the safety of our graduates, guests, staff, faculty, and all AU community members.

Thank you for your continuing support and attention to these important matters. Best wishes for a successful conclusion of the semester.

Sincerely,

Bronté Burleigh-Jones
