By building on our strong foundation, we continue our journey, remaining focused on actions that increase student access, enhance faculty and staff learning, and create a sense of belonging for all.
AU鈥檚 commitment to advancing equity and inclusion has earned a national award. That's reason to celebrate鈹and recommit.
Edwin Santos, SPA/BA 鈥24, MPA 鈥25, a first-generation college student; politics, policy, and law scholar; and son of El Salvadoran immigrants; is one of 100 to receive the inaugural Voyager Scholarship: The Obama-Chesky Scholarship for Public Service. Working with AU鈥檚 Office of Merit Awards, Santos, who wants to start a law firm that focuses on criminal and immigration law, plans to travel across Europe helping non-profits who focus on prison reform. 鈥淚鈥檓 excited to visit other countries, see the world, and learn,鈥 Santos said. 鈥淎nd thanks to this program, I can take that knowledge and use it to help low-income communities.鈥
