Professor N. Jeremi Duru, Sports Law Expert, Comments on Landmark NFL Discrimination Lawsuit

On February 1, 2022, former NFL coach Brian Flores filed a lawsuit against the NFL, citing alleged discrimination and racism in hiring practices. Since the lawsuit, WCL Professor has been interviewed by multiple media outlets on the lawsuit and this historic moment in sports law. Professor Duru is among the nation's most prominent sports law authorities and author of . In addition to his scholarship, he has represented the Fritz Pollard Alliance of minority coaches, scouts, and front office personnel in the National Football League as well as sports industry professionals in employment matters involving other leagues, including the National Basketball Association and Major League Baseball.

鶹ý Law Review Hosts Symposium, "The Impact of Race on Youth [In]Justice"

On Friday, February 4, 2022, the 鶹ý Law Review hosted its annual symposium titled “The Impact of Race on Youth [in]Justice.” Each year the Law Review dedicates its annual symposium to exploring a burgeoning area in the legal field, and several events in recent history have brought to the forefront the issue of race and racism in the legal profession. Almost every sector of the law has and continues to confront racism, but children are uniquely disadvantaged as dependents. Friday’s symposium sought to explore those questions and shed light on how racism has infiltrated the legal rights of children.

The MLK Birthday Commemoration program is a 23-year tradition at WCL that honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  This year the King family asked that instead of just celebrating Dr. King's legacy, to focus on the fight to pass voting rights legislation. Therefore, the program focused on educating our community about pending legislation and highlighting the importance of voting rights at this moment.
