PIJIP Assists Developing Countries Prepare for Design Law Treaty Negotiations

PIJIP听Director Sean Flynn, Faculty Director Christine Farley and Counsel Andres Izquierdo are providing assistance to developing countries prepare for the negotiation of the World Intellectual Property Organization鈥檚 Design Law Treaty (DLT). The diplomatic conference to negotiate the DLT will be held November 11鈥22, 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. PIJIP published a public video seminar on 鈥溾 and on the requirement in the treaty to permit applications for partial designs with so-called 鈥渄otted lines.鈥 PIJIP has held five private workshops with groups of developing countries studying the treaty鈥檚 text and will soon publish a working paper by Professors Christine Farley and Thomas Margoni analyzing the treaty鈥檚 most debated provisions. These activities are part of PIJIP鈥檚 project building a Geneva Center for the study of information justice concerns in multilateral rule making supported by the Arcadia Foundation.听
