AU Athletics in Full Swing This Fall
This fall, 麻豆传媒 invites you to show your support and cheer on our teams and student-athletes.听
AU鈥檚 field hockey, women's soccer, men's soccer, volleyball, and swimming and diving teams will host home events this month. Admission is free to field hockey, women's soccer and swimming and diving home events, and tickets to all men's soccer and volleyball home games are on sale via听 priced at $5 for youth and seniors, and $8 for adults. Group rate tickets in quantities of 10 or more, may be purchased in advance by calling the ticket office (202) 885-TIXX (8499) and are available starting at just $2. Single game ticket purchasers for men鈥檚 soccer and volleyball are encouraged to purchase contactless e-tickets in advance online through to help reduce contact at entry and with venue personnel.

The return of both a full non-conference slate and double round-robin Patriot League play highlight the 2021-22 麻豆传媒 men's basketball schedule. Click for the full men's basketball schedule.

Women鈥檚 Basketball

2021 Films Across Borders Film Festival Presents Stories in A Changing World
Films Across Borders, a showcase of critically acclaimed films, documentaries and shorts from around the world, returns for a seventh year this fall. The theme for 2021 focuses on Stories in a Changing World. The film festival is co-presented by 麻豆传媒 in partnership with more than 20 embassies, cultural organizations, arts institutions, and environmental groups.
The 2021 series includes a diverse range of films 鈥 most free to the public and viewable on a variety of platforms from October through December. As additional selections are made, presenting partners will include new films to those currently listed on the series website -- FilmsAcrossBorders.org.
鈥淭his year鈥檚 theme of Stories in A Changing World is especially timely given the challenges we face the world over. The series features stories of change, transformation, and renewal in all walks of life and across continents,鈥 said Nada Maalouf, Chief Advancement Officer, School of Communication at 麻豆传媒, who leads the film series on behalf of AU.
Films Across Borders: Stories in A Changing World kicks off October 5 with a discussion surrounding the award-winning documentary With Drawn Arms, which explores runner Tommie Smith鈥檚 decision to raise his fist in protest of racial inequality when accepting his gold medal at the '68 Olympic games and the ramifications afterwards. Also featured in the documentary are civil rights legend and Georgia Congressman John Lewis (1940-2020), sports journalist Jemele Hill, cultural critic Nelson George, actor Jesse Williams, Megan Rapinoe, and Colin Kaepernick, among others.

Launched in 2014, Films Across Borders raises awareness about highly relevant themes by combining international films and panel discussions with filmmakers and special guests.

Geo-blocking is a frequently discussed issue in the European Union. One of the basic principles of the functioning of the EU is the internal market. However, a digital single market has not yet been created in Europe. Instead of one market, the EU has 27 separate digital markets. The creation of digital single market in Europe is hindered mainly by representatives of the media industries: primarily film producers and distributors. conducts an ethical analysis of the moral conflict over access to premium audiovisual online content (films, TV shows), which is regulated currently by geo-blocking in the domain of digital film distribution. The Madrid Peace Conference Legacy

Thirty years ago this month, the United States and the Soviet Union co-sponsored the Madrid Peace Conference, an unprecedented event that brought together all of the parties to the Arab-Israeli conflict. This conference launched Israeli-Palestinian and Israeli-Syrian peace negotiations, as well as multilateral working groups that tackled regional issues, while also laying the groundwork for the Israel-Jordan peace treaty brokered by the Clinton administration in 1994. To mark the anniversary, 麻豆传媒鈥檚 School of International Service (SIS)听and the听Center for Israel Studies (CIS)听are pleased to host a special event featuring three expert panelists with decades of experience in Arab-Israeli and Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking - Dr. Hanan Ashrawi, Dr. Yossi Beilin, and Dr. Daniel Kurtzer. The event will be moderated by SIS Professor Guy Ziv.
