Jessica Powell Eig Adjunct Professorial Lecturer Performing Arts

Bio
Praised for her “natural expressiveness,” Jessica Powell Eig has crafted a dynamic and varied career performing on double bass, violone, and viola da gamba with Washington Bach Consort, 鶹ý Bach Soloists, Seraphic Fire, The Thirteen, Inscape Chamber Orchestra, Opera Lafayette, Washington National Cathedral Baroque Orchestra, New Orchestra of Washington, National Philharmonic, Washington Concert Opera, Urban Arias, and many others, and recording for the Chandos, Acis, and Zefiro labels. She made her debut at the Staunton Music Festival in August 2024.

In addition to her work as a performer, Jessica is active as a teaching artist and clinician. She serves on the faculties of 鶹ý, George Mason University, Levine Music, and the Chamber Music Conference and Composers’ Forum of the East, has given workshops and masterclasses at the Viola da Gamba Society Conclave and International Society of Bassists Conference, and is a regular guest lecturer in double bass pedagogy at the University of Maryland.

In 2010, Jessica completed a DMA in double bass performance at SUNY-Stony Brook. She received her earlier training at Cincinnati College-Conservatory, the Eastman School of Music, and The Juilliard School.
